Naga Munchetty replaced for second day in a row in BBC Breakfast shake-up

Munchetty Dragon was missing from Friday’s BBC Breakfast for the second day in a row.

The broadcaster usually presents from Thursday to Saturday alongside Charlie Stayt but hasn’t been hosting so far this week.

Charlie has instead been fronting the show with Sarah Campbell.

Naga also usually presents her BBC Radio from Mondays to Wednesdays but was missing after Monday this week.

Adrian Chiles stepped in to replace her on air on Tuesday and Wednesday.

No explanation has been given for Naga’s absence, but the 48-year-old recently opened up about a debilitating health condition she suffers with.

Back in May, she detailed how she is often “screaming in pain” from adenomyosis, a womb condition which leaves her in constant pain.

Naga explained she had been diagnosed with adenomyosis only last year – a condition where the endometrium (lining of the womb) is found deep in the myometrium (muscle of the uterus).

Common symptoms include heavy, painful, or irregular periods to pre-menstrual pelvic pain and feelings of heaviness as well as discomfort in the pelvis, according to the NHS.

Sarah and Charlie appear to be working well together and building a similar jokey rapport he enjoys with Naga.

On Thursday’s show, Sarah laughed as Charlie was told by a BBC editor to move the conversation along after he went “off topic” during a chat with actor Ben Miller.

She also mocked him on Friday as he launched into a rant about manual cars.

Reading from a news article, Charlie was shocked to discover it will no longer be possible to purchase manual Mini Cooper.

“So you cannot and will not be able to buy a Mini Cooper with a manual gearbox,” he summarised.

“Oh,” co-host Sarah Campbell responded before asking: “Are you upset about that?”

“Yes! Enormously upset,” Charlie replied. “It feels massively wrong.”

He went on: “I can remember when cars used to have gear levers up on the dashboard you would kind of pull in and out.”

“Right…” Sarah replied. “And did they have indicators or did you have to stick your hand out to let them know where you’re going?”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays from 6am on BBC One.
