She said it ‘destroyed her mental health and career’ and she admitted she ‘didn’t leave the house for three months due to crippling anxiety’.
After flying into Abu Dhabi for a work trip following the incident, Kaz was put in jail for a week alongside a new mother and her six-month-old baby.

Traumatising: The Love Island alum, 28, revealed it was the ‘lowest point of her life’ as she discussed the ‘very scary’ experience of being held behind bars
Speaking to GK Barry on her podcast Saving Grace podcast, Kaz discussed her traumatising experience from start to finish.
She explained: ‘The Dubai thing for me is so much deeper than anything that was portrayed in the media. I met this guy in Thailand and we started seeing each other in Marbella but it was never anything serious.
‘In 2020 before Covid and lockdown I was going to go out to Dubai to work for a month and I ended up staying a bit longer because that guy was there and I ended up getting involved with him.
‘When I tell you narcissists don’t have it written on their forehead. At the start it was perfect and three months he was this caring, sweet person and you get drawn in by the idea of someone and you become happy.
‘I was in Dubai with this person and slowly it was revealed who he really was and he was very controlling and emotionally abusive and he wasn’t good for me. The people he was around put me in situations like the video.
‘I’m not going to sit here and say I’ve never taken drugs before. I’m not going to pretend I’m innocent. I’m 28-years-old and have travelled the world, been to festivals and I have experimented like young people do.
Kaz revealed that she had had enough with the relationship and decided to jet back to the UK however, as she headed to the airport she discovered that her unnamed ex ‘had ripped the picture out of her passport’.
She continued: ‘The situation in Dubai, I wanted to leave and go home. I had a flight booked but we had an argument and I was like this is it I’m done and I’m leaving.
The video: In 2020, the reality star was filmed without her knowledge, appearing to snort lines of white powder in Dubai by her ‘controlling and manipulative’ ex-boyfriend
Opening up: She said the story ‘destroyed her mental health and career’ and she ‘didn’t leave the house for three months’ due to crippling ‘anxiety’
‘Basically I went to a beach club the day before I was suppose to fly and I gave my passport to them to check the ID, you couldn’t get in without showing your passport. The security was like, “Mam, this doesn’t have a picture”.
‘I looked at my passport and he had ripped the picture out of my passport when he kicked me out of the apartment.
‘I was leaving, he was putting all my stuff in the bags and I was also packing up. He got my passport and ripped it out and that is why I couldn’t leave and it was Christmas and all I wanted was to go home to my family.’
Breaking down in tears the TV personality said she was stuck in the country ‘for ages’ until a ‘friend was able to fly to Dubai with a new passport for me’.
She said: ‘Those situations are so controlling it’s not just physical but emotional abuse. Like destroying your possessions and manipulating you.
‘I wasn’t strong enough to be out there in Dubai. It is a different bubble and there was Covid back home at this point and I wasn’t strong enough to leave.
‘Long story short when I did eventually finish it and I moved back to the UK all I wanted was to start my life and move forward but he was always there and he wasn’t even in the UK.’
Once back home, Kaz bought a flat in Manchester which she said ‘solidified she was never going to get back with her ex’.
The ‘controlling’ unnamed man ‘retaliated’ and wanted to ‘hurt and destroy her career’ due to her moving on.
He released the video of Kaz snorting the lines of white powder which she insisted she ‘did not know’ who took that video until later on.
Troubled times: After flying into Abu Dhabi for a work trip following the incident, Kaz was put in jail for a week alongside a new mother and a six-month-old baby
She said: ‘We were both messaging each other and I said I’m moving to Manchester and living here now and I think that solidified that I was never going to get back with him.
‘When people want to be in control and when they feel they aren’t they will retaliate because they want to win, whether that is destroying your career or hurting you, that’s what he did.
‘I never knew he took that video at the start of our relationship. I did not know.
‘I was with him for a year after that video was taken and we lived together and he had that video on his phone the whole time. I had no idea he had that video.
‘I remember in Bali this one time he said when we had an argument, “I’m going to ruin your career” and I was like, “What are you going to do”. When the video came out that’s what then clicked in my head.’
Kaz said she was utterly shocked that ‘someone could be so evil’ as she explained how he shared the video.
Continuing, she said: ‘It wasn’t that he sent it to the press he made an Instagram account called Kaz Sniffing.
‘There was one post and it was me in that dress that I posted on my Instagram but that picture was taken on a different night and then it was a swipe to the video.
‘As soon as I saw it I didn’t even think it was him. It didn’t even click in my head that someone could be so evil and calculated and so controlling to film that, keep it and then release it.
‘I messaged him saying, “It’s your friend that’s shared it because there was only three people in the room”, he replied like, “He wouldn’t do that” and denied everything.’
Begging her friends to report the video, the ITV2 star said the account had followed a thousand people including from tabloids.
‘In that moment I was like “I’m f***ed”.
‘I had no idea he had that video’: Kaz was utterly shocked that ‘someone could be so evil’ as her ‘controlling’ ex released a video of her doing drugs in an attempt to destroy her career after she broke up with him
‘I couldn’t breath’: The beauty revealed she was left ‘hysterically crying’ after hearing the tabloids had the video of her doing drugs and afterwards she ‘didn’t leave the house for three months’
‘I didn’t actually confirm it was him until I zoomed into it and in the one corner there was a guys trouser leg and I went back to that night on my photos and found the picture and figured out that that was the friend and there was only three of us so that’s how I worked out it was 100% my ex that took the video.
‘Since then I have had no contact and I just blocked him on everything. Moving on, it didn’t come out in the press until a month later.
‘As soon as the Instagram was deleted, I’m not sure if he took it down or Instagram from so many people reporting it, but we didn’t hear anything and then a couple weeks after that it came out.’
Kaz admitted her ‘heart sank’ as she received a phone call from her manager who told her a tabloid had caught hold of the video.
The beauty revealed she ‘couldn’t breathe’ and was left ‘hysterically crying’ after hearing the news.
‘I was actually on a first date and was like I’m going to have fun again and it was the end of the date he was driving and I look at my phone and my manager is ringing me, who never rings me, and my heart sank. I knew it was something’, she said.
‘I picked up and he said “It’s really bad news, The Sun have contacted me for comment about the video of you in Dubai”
‘I was hysterically crying and couldn’t breathe, I had just met this guy on the date who is in the car next to me but I couldn’t breathe. It was the worse feeling ever, luckily the guy was nice.
‘After that I got in touch with a lawyer and paid a lot of money to try and get the information not released because it was someone purposefully trying to destroy my career.
‘It was over a year ago and I have a history of depression so it could effect me and it was an invasion of privacy as well. I didn’t give consent but because it’s not a sex video and it was already out there. After that it was a really long period of time waiting to see if [the media] was going to publish, I spent all this money on a lawyer and I was like I have to try and stop this.’
Kaz admitted she thought about speaking out in her own words before the story broke but ‘she was a p***y’.
She said: ‘It came in my head that I should talk about it before it came out so I could own it in my own words but I was a p***y and didn’t do that. Like where the f*** do I start.
‘A few weeks later, I was on a second date with that same guy and I glanced at my phone and I have never had so many notifications in my life. The anxiety was so bad.
‘All these people from my past were like “I’m here for you if you ever need” and in that moment I knew it was out.
Rock bottom: Kaz lost all her brand deals and ‘became depressed’ until she landed a job a presenting in Thailand however when she landed in Abu Dhabi she was taken to jail
‘The guy took my phone and was like don’t look at it let’s just have fun. I got really drunk and the next day woke up so hungover with so much anxiety.
‘I thought that period was the worst of it but it wasn’t and I didn’t want to speak about it because I was dealing with so much and it was so hard.
‘I was in an abusive relationship and the person I loved did that to me. On top of destroying my mental health, my career, my family were worried, so I didn’t speak out. I told my parents as soon as I knew it might come out. I was honest and they were supportive.’
Fighting back tears, she said she ‘never expected someone she was so close’ with to share something so cruel.
She added: ‘I stayed on my sofa for three months and didn’t leave the house, I just sat and watched Friends.
‘I know I made a mistake and I couldn’t say anything because I was doing something wrong and I was taking drugs where it is super super illegal.
‘You always think so many celebrities are worried about being filmed and you never expect it to be someone that close to you.’
Hitting what she thought was rock bottom, Kaz lost all her brand deals, ‘became depressed’ and didn’t leave the house.
She admitted she ‘thought so low of herself’ before landing a job in Thailand presenting.
However, as she landed in Abu Dhabi she was taken by police for questioning due to having an ‘open case in Dubai’.
She detailed the ‘scariest experience of her life’ as she was ‘strip searched’ and held with prisoners in a jail cell for a week.
She explained: ‘I’m on the way to Thailand and not even thinking this company had booked me a transit in Abu Dhabi. I’ve landed and I saw name on the piece of paper and I was like, “That’s me” and they said, “Please have a seat” and I waited like an hour.
‘Someone came over and they were like we are CID [Criminal Investigation Department] and as soon as I sat down I was like, “I’ve f***ed it”.
‘I was taken to the police station and they were like, “You have a case open in Dubai” and I knew what it was about and said, “I’m going to Thailand I’m not staying here” but they said they couldn’t deal with it because it was in Dubai.
‘They were like “you’re not arrested but Dubai need to speak to you about it”. At this point it is midnight and they said it’ll have to be tomorrow. In my head I was thinking of the job but they put me in a car and I was taken to a jail and dropped off.
‘They strip searched me and took all my stuff, the next think I know is I’m behind bars with all these other women in a shared cell.
‘It was the scariest thing ever and I was so confused. It was really scary.’
She went on: ‘The next day I didn’t hear anything I just kept meeting all these women who were arrested for drugs and prostitution. I just wanted to know what the f*** was going on. I couldn’t speak to anyone and I was probably in there for two days before someone said, “Kaz come with us were going to Dubai”‘.
She insisted she ‘was not arrested’ as she explained how she was moved jails and locked up with a newborn baby and its mother.
Kaz added: ‘I wasn’t arrested I was just held for questioning. I was not arrested but I was inside the jail so it felt like it but I wasn’t put in handcuffs.
‘I was treated like any other inmate. I was taken to Dubai and then I got put in another jail for a day. This was really eye opening experience.
‘Inside this jail there was a six-month-old baby in with me. In Abu Dhabi it is illegal to have kids if you’re not married.
‘The child was with the mother in jail and she had it in the hospital by cesarean and the police came to the hospital and put her in jail with the baby after two days.
‘She was in there for six months before I arrived. I still speak with her now but I was probably at the lowest point of my life and I was holding this tiny baby.
‘It was a horrible place and it was not nice. I had nothing to wash with no clothes it was disgusting.’

Stressful: Kaz revealed when she was released from jail she finally looked in the mirror, as the prisons had none, and that is ‘ when I saw the bald patch’
Ahead of finally being questioned by the police, Kaz was moved to a ‘holding cell in a police department’ where she was with ‘drug addicts who were having withdrawals’.
She revealed that due to not actually being arrested as she was moved from cell to cell she was ‘given her belongings’ and managed to contact her friends and family.
She added: ‘I was put in a holding cell in the police department and I had to sleep on a floor and I was with drug addicts who were having withdrawals.
‘I got taken from there for questioning and then they kept me in a cell in Dubai. I was there for a week.
‘I wasn’t actually arrested so when I was travelling between cells I had my things and I was ringing my friends and everyone was so confused. When I rang my management they were like the tabloids are going to release this and it was front page.
‘I couldn’t care less at this point I was just like I need to get out and when I was, I was just relived.’
Kaz revealed when she was released from jail she finally looked in the mirror, as the prisons had none, and that is ‘when I saw the bald patch.’
She also said she ‘doesn’t trust people’ anymore and only has her friends from before appearing on Love Island and her two co-stars from the show Ellie Brown and Laura Anderson.
She added: ‘No one is perfect and people do stuff they regret. In life s*** things happen and you can come out the other end.
‘They said I can go back to Dubai. The policewomen hugged me when I left and was like please come back and I was just thinking in my head like no. The pressure and anxiety of it was 10 times worse than the first time.
‘I can’t trust people, I don’t have new friends all my friends are from before Love Island and Ellie and Laura.
‘My friends give me everything and I know where their loyalty lies. The paranoia now and going out is not the same now I don’t go out as much anymore.’
Previously Kaz broke her silence on the matter in February as she spoke her ‘own truth’ in a short Instagram clip.
Dubai has recently liberalised its drugs laws with first-time offenders given a minimum of three months in prison and a fine of between £4,559 and £22,799. Previously, offenders would have faced a minimum of four years in prison for any drug use.
After serving jail time, suspects are then deported to their home state – in Kaz’s case to the UK – and banned from returning to the UAE. Sentences for drug-trafficking can include the death penalty.
