Jennifer Aniston Denies ‘Liking’ Alleged ‘Anti-semitic’ Post
The incident unfolded when Foxx posted a cryptic message on his Instagram account, which triggered concerns among some netizens about its potential implications.
The post’s content, which read, “They killed this dude name [sic] Jesus… What do you think they’ll do to you???!” was subject to varying interpretations, leading to heated debates in the comment section.
Aniston was quickly spotted among the thousands of users who “liked” the controversial post. Her action caught the attention of Instagram users, who expressed disappointment and concern about what seemed like a subtle endorsement.
However, the actress wasted no time in addressing the situation, taking to her Instagram stories to clear the air on the controversy and condemn any form of antisemitism.
“This really makes me sick. I did not ‘like’ this post on purpose or by accident,” Anniston wrote. “And more importantly, I want to be clear to my friends and anyone hurt by this showing up in their feeds — I do NOT support any form of antisemitism.”
She went on, “And I truly don’t tolerate HATE of any kind. Period.”
Jamie Foxx Deleted The Post And Tendered An Apology
In response to the escalating controversy, the “Django Unchained” actor promptly took down the post in question and issued a heartfelt apology for any unintended offense caused.
The actor expressed regret for the content of his original message and acknowledged that it could have been misinterpreted in a harmful way because of his seemingly controversial choice of words.
“I want to apologize to the Jewish community and everyone who was offended by my post,” Foxx began.
“I now know that my choice of words has caused offense, and I’m sorry. That was never my intent.”
In his apology, the actor stressed that he was “betrayed” by a “fake friend,” and that was who he referred to as “they” in his original post.
“I only have love in my heart for everyone. I love and support the Jewish community. My deepest apologies to anyone who was offended,” he concluded.
Fans Support Jamie Foxx Amid ‘Antisemitism’ Accusations
In the aftermath of Foxx’s apology post, the comment section became a battleground of divergent opinions as some Jewish fans saw nothing wrong with the actor’s original post while others noted he only “excused” himself and “didn’t take responsibility.”
A fan wrote, “I am Jewish, and I thought it was one helluva leap to call it antisemitic. I knew exactly what you meant. Everybody needs to chill.”
“I know you personally. I’m Jewish and know you’re the last person that would EVER act antisemitic. You are kind and thoughtful to everyone. I would vouch for you always,” another fan said.
One fan wrote, “It’s scary today. You say anything, and someone somewhere is offended. Personally I found no offense in what you said, and I’m Jewish. But it takes courage to apologize regardless if you needed to or not. So bravo for being the good guy.”
Amid the outpouring of support, a person who wasn’t having it with Foxx’s apology said the “amount of antisemitism generated” by his apology note and the original post “speaks for itself.”
“I’m sorry, this is not an apology, and you’re not taking any responsibility! You’re only excusing yourself for the antisemitic post you uploaded,” another individual wrote.
