Burnett serves at WCVB NewsCenter 5 as a weather producer and meteorologist. His career encompasses experience at a number of TV stations in the New England region. This includes positions at WFXT in Boston, WCSH6/WLBZ2 in Maine, New England Cable News, and also the WMUR station, which is like “a sibling” of WCVB.
In his career, he has experienced a lot of big storms. Some examples are the 2011 Tornado Outbreak in western Massachusetts, the strong January 2018 Nor’easter (also called the “Bomb Cyclone”), Super Storm Sandy, and the 2013 Blizzard. Burnett is part of the American Meteorological Society and has their approval for television work, which is given to people who are really good at broadcasting about the weather.
In the year 2022, Burnett got a special award from NATAS Boston/New England Chapter for his reporting on a big storm (Nor’easter).
