21-year-old adopted Ukrainian kills American parents in Florida, arrested

A 21-year-old man was arrested in Florida for slaughtering his American parents, who had rescued him from a prison-like orphanage in Ukraine and had adopted him seven years ago.

The incident happened on Friday (September 1), when the accused, identified as Dima Tower, killed his parents and real estate agents Robbie and Jennifer Tower.

According to the New York Post, the man now faces murder charges.

The police said they received calls from neighbours of the couple, alerting them about the incident.

Upon reaching the spot, they found the couple in a pool of blood in the living room of their house.

The report stated the accused had initially fled the spot in a car his American parents had bought for him. He eventually abandoned the car and sprinted into nearby woods. He was taken into custody on Saturday morning.

Police said the accused had lost his mother as a child and was abandoned by his alcoholic father.

Commenting on the incident, Robbie Tower’s uncle, Warren Rines, told the New York Post that the couple adopted Dima Tower when he was 14 years old, despite his wrenching past.

Rines also said the couple was unable to have a child on their own.

The deceased couple used to visit Ukraine on several Christian missions, the report quoted Rines as saying.

Three years ago, Rines said the couple was compelled to call the police after Dima assaulted Robbie and left him with a black eye.

Post the incident, the accused was sent to live with Jennifer’s relatives for some time, but Robbie insisted that he return home.

Meanwhile, police said investigations were underway to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
